STAAR tests are mainly designed to measure what students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the coming next grade. A test form is a set of released test questions previously administered together to academic Texas students which reflects the STAAR Exam blueprints. STAAR reading and writing tests of Texas contain varying amounts of authentic published texts. Copyright permission for these STAAR texts is obtained from publishers by the testing contractor on behalf of Texas Alternative Home School. These copyright agreements may or may not include permission for a general wider, non-secure release after programming and testing. If the material that was used during testing could not be included in a released test and program form due to specific copyright permissions, the text is provided in the test form that indicates where the source material originated.

Released test forms that were administered online are released as diploma and practice tests. These released practice tests and exams are available through the STAAR online testing platform of Home School in Texas. The online practice and diploma tests are not available for printing or scoring. If you would like to score your student’s online training and practice test for the diploma, you should direct your student to record his or her answers on a separate sheet of test paper. Then you can also use the answer key to the test below to score the STAAR released practice test.
